What will this course be about?
Students get to experience the trades through the design and making of projects. This course offers an opportunity to experience on the job training with skilled trades people and to enjoy the expertise and facilities offered by the Christchurch Polytechnic.

Attendance at the Christchurch Polytechnic is compulsory

What qualification does this count towards?

Skills Based Unit Standards and Achievement Standards

What do I need to have done already?

Students must be Year 12 or above and have a genuine interest in learning and experiencing the construction industry. You will be required to supply either a copy of your birth certificate or your passport when enrolling for this course.

What is the assessment?

By achieving a range of Skills Based Unit Standards and Achievement Standards.

What is the course cost?

A standard material fee of $45.00 is charged. Should students make projects in excess of material allocations or from materials not in stock, they will pay the additional costs.

Where will this course lead?

Students are encouraged to pursue career options in the Trade area, and are offered the opportunity to participate in the Gateway programme to gain work skills in their chosen trade.

 

Time allocation: 12 hours per week
